(07/10) First all new studio-album in years (the previous 'Motus Animi' was released in 2005) by the German SM-Gothic formation Umbra Et Imago (Latin for 'Shadow and Image') and declared to be their last album EVER (while the band will concentrate on their live-activities and will continue to tour also in the future).
Umbra et Imago were formed in 1991 and initially (first 2 albums) was a genuine dark electro wave goth band.
They then evolved into a gothic metal-/Neue Deutsche Härte-band. In picking up Sigmund Freud's idea that sexuality was the center of our being they processed sadomasochistic fantasies through their cynic lyrics.
The band is famous for incorporating BDSM acts and complex pyrotechnics into their live shows.
Band leader Mozart has subsequently reached the status of the undiscussed leader of a SM sub-culture in Germany far across the borders of the 'Gothic'-scene.
Recently he got big attention in the popular mainstream press, thanks to a duet with boxing world champion Regina Halmich.
With 'Opus Magnus' the band delivers another album of 'classic' goth-, SM-, dark metal attitude in 12 all new songs.
